employment opportunities

Independent Life’s vision is for the senior years to be a fulfilling phase of life, enjoyed by each of us in our own particular way. Our Wellbeing Assistants are central to realising this vision.

Wellbeing Assistants work with elderly people in their homes to maximise their quality of life, their independence and their overall wellbeing. They make a difference to each person’s life which lasts well beyond the duration of any one visit.

If you enjoy spending time with elderly people and would find it rewarding to help them maintain their independence and the lifestyle & quality of life that is important to them, then you may enjoy being a Wellbeing Assistant with Independent Life.

Whilst working with us, you’ll have the benefit of choosing your own hours (we offer day, evening, overnight, and weekend hours), competitive pay rates, and a supportive team environment where you are genuinely appreciated for what you do.

People of varying age and employment backgrounds have found they enjoy being a Wellbeing Assistant. Prior experience in aged care is not essential. It is a fondness for elderly people which draws people to the role. We ensure you have the knowledge and skills you need by providing comprehensive orientation and training, and although you work independently at clients’ homes the Independent Life office is only ever a phone call away.

The type of assistance you might provide will vary with each person’s individual needs and preferences, and could include any non-medical tasks that enable the person to enjoy a good quality of life and remain living independently in their home. Tasks such as light housework, cooking, medication reminders, shopping, errands, personal care and companionship on outings are things that people often request help with. However, the practical help you provide is just one part of your role. The quality of the relationship and the companionship you share with the elderly people you work with is perhaps the most valuable aspect of your role. As you get to know each person and develop a relationship of trust, you’re best able to help them enjoy their life, in their own way.

If you are caring and compassionate, have integrity, a positive attitude and would enjoy assisting elderly people to optimise their independence and their overall health and wellbeing, then we would like to hear from you.
